Filling some pots to make my back deck beautiful for summer.
Wanted some more succulents this time and I found some beautiful ones at
Carlson's Greenhouse on Torrey Rd. in Fenton. (prices are awesome too)

I had the perfect pot, not too deep.  Succulents do not need hardly any depth in the soil to grow.

I chose Hens and Chicks (my fav), Creeping Thyme,  and  Chocolate Ball Sedum.

My potting mix of choice!  I need all the help that I can get!

You can easily divide these Hens and chicks to spread around your pot.

My masterpiece completed! I did what I set out to do and love it!  Not to mention, succulent planters are so easy to take care for.
Ok, on to the next pot:
Rule of thumb, again, is the three musts: some height, a shorter spread out flower, and a trailing flower.
I like the flowers to match in a pot, but that is totally up to you. For this pot, I chose Twilight Lime Petunia (a touch of purple in the middle of a cream petunia <3 ), Purple Star Lobelia (for height), and Lobularia that is pale purple to match perfectly.  They set each other off nicely.

Most flowers require a little more room for roots, so fill your pot about halfway first.

Hopefully this will fill out and be gorgeous!
So cute! Love relaxing on the deck with all of this color!
Here is what my baker's rack on my back deck looks like so far:

My poor sweet basil on the top left should perk up soon, and I have a few other little things I want to add... more to come!
