First Flower Pot of the Season!

After that looooooong winter and spring, can NOT wait to be surrounded by beautiful flowers!  So, for now, this must suffice.  Here is the first pot of the season on my front porch.
Rule of thumb for a pot this size is use of three different flowers: 1.) tall flowers  2.) cascading flowers, and 3.) short flowers.  Side note: this beautiful urn pot came from Home Depot

Springtime Hutch Decor

Now that I emptied out my other hutch, I got out my colorful spring/summer items. What do you think?

  • First of all, my hutch was a gift from my awesome hubby a few years back from Dixboro General Store.
  • The napkins are just beautiful- they are April Cornell and if anyone knows her stuff- she did my quilt in the beach room too and they match perfectly with my new everyday dishes I posted earlier- and they were only 4.99 for 4! I love HomeGoods!
  • Also, the bubbled glass glasses are from my friend, Elaine
  • The ruffled yellow bowls were from a consignment store a few years ago (for 8.99 for all 4)- Williams Sonoma too!
  • The yellow candle stand was from sister-in-law, the blueish candle and top bluish and yellow towel folded on top was from Elaine too
  • The striped servebowl from Southern Living at Home years ago, along with the whimsical spreaders
  • The cute water pitcher was 1/2 off at My Sweet Holly!
  • The bicycle clock on top was a gift from my friend, Kerry.
Tell me I am not a bargain shopper with awesome friends too!

LOVE these colors together for spring and summer

Beachy guest room

Just need to add a burlap bedskirt ( in queen) to match the burlap euro pillow shams from IKEA.
Paint color is very light blue.
Quilt is by April Cornell and I got it at Marshall's a few years back.
Both side tables and dresser were purchased at a repurpose shop.
The cute bicycle pillow was found at Meijer (they really have cute home decor).
The lamps from Meijer and lampshades separate- both 75% off.
Most of the decor were either garage sale, vacation souvenirs, or gifts.
All of our guests have said it is very cozy!

homemade salsa time!

This is an easy, fresh recipe that you will want to make again and again...

You will need:
8 large tomatoes (garden fresh are the best)
2 small onions
1 jalapeno
3 cloves garlic
1/2 cup diced fresh cilantro
1 yellow pepper
salt and pepper

Chop tomatoes, onions and pepper.  Toss in a large bowl with salt and pepper.  Dice jalapeno, garlic and cilantro. Stir all and add salt and pepper to taste.  Cover and place in refrigerator for at least an hour to give it time to blend all of the flavors.
Serve with tortillas, chips, or over rice.

Use fresh ingredients, garden fresh preferably.

TIP: slice down the sides and dice for less heat.  for more heat, add the seads.

Yum!

Before and After Hutch

This is a beautiful hutch that we picked up from Craigslist for under $50.00!  Hubby is so talented!  He is really getting the hang of this re-purposing furniture. I had in mind what I wanted on that wall, and what I needed to display my wedding dinnerware. This was a perfect fit.  Something similar already finished was pricing out around $1000.00 minimum! He even distressed it, which turned out beautiful!

And here are a few other photos...

Also, it matches my dining room set beautifully.
